What to do when the numbers are telling you to stop
You have done the work of writing.
You have tried to drum up interest.
It’s all too much and you almost want to quit.
Maybe tomorrow, next week, next month’s numbers will hold some hope, a sliver of encouragement. You look again and there they are, like wide eye-sockets shocked to see you’re even checking.
The Zeros.
No one’s looking and no one cares. How do you handle it?
I have learned to wear them like decorations, badges of honor. Because I persist and cannot be stopped by mere irrelevance. My stories are my own and will be told. The length of time I spend being ignored is a time left for training my mind to bare up and persist.
The zeros are heavy but they are like weights in building my physique. Not more than I can manage and necessary to any future strength. Writing continues and the stories will come. One day people may read them or care but for now My Zeros and I will journey together building strength.
